Claude Eugene Showalter, Sr., 51, of Mechanicsville, MD, died on November 26, 2011 at his residence. Claude was born on November 21, 1960 in Washington, D.C. Claude was the son of Francis Meredith Showalter and Janette Rose Showalter.

He had a career with the State of Maryland as a Maintenance Supervisor with Food Lion. He enjoyed being on the sidelines, coaching Pigskin football in St. Mary's County for 21 years as a head coach. He was always in the Turkey Bowl Championship Game and his teams won 7+ times. He loved to race his 69 camero at Budds Creek International Raceway. Claude was a beloved husband, father, son, uncle, brother and friend to many. He was a member of the Encounter Christian Center in Charlotte Hall.

He was preceded in death by niece, Tiffany Simmons.

Claude is also survived by his wife Sharon Almalel Showalter of 34 years; his four sons Claude Eugene Showalter, Jr., David Anthony Showalter, Aaron Anthony Showalter, Darron Almalel Showalter; his daughter in laws Nicki, Nicole and Holly; his 5 grandchildren Kayla, Liyah, Gunnar, Savannah and Jordan; his brother, Francis Allen Showalter, Sr.; and his four sisters, Patricia Craddock, Carol Patrillo, Teresa Hampton, and Janet English.

The family will receive friends at Encounter Christian Church, 30080 Henry Lane, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622 (GPS address is: 29948 Three Notch Road, behind Burger King) on Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Prayers will be held at 7:00pm. Funeral service will be at 10:00am on Friday, December 2, 2011 at Encounter Christian Church. Interment will follow to Charles Memorial Gardens, 26325 Point Lookout Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650.

Pallbearers will be sons Claude Eugene, Jr., David Anthony, Aaron Anthony and Darron Almalel; brother Francis Allen Showalter, Sr., and nephew Francis Allen Showalter, Jr.
