HAISS, CHRISTA G., Age 77

Died on November 25, 2011 at Cherrywood Nursing Home, Maryland. She was born to the late Rudolf and Martha Ripp on May 14, 1934 in Zwickau, Germany. She was a student at the Lette Verein Technical College in Berlin, Germany from 1951 to 1954. Christa was employed with Siemens-Schuckertwerke and the University of Tuebingen from 1954 to 1962. She married to the late Dr. Hermann Haiss in 1961.

In 1962, the U.S. Government brought them to the United States so that Dr. Haiss could work at the Naval Ordinance Station in Indian Head, Maryland. Mrs. Haiss lived in Maryland for nearly 50 years, where she raised her family.

She was a quiet and gentle woman; who was thoughtful, kind, and generous. She had a passion for the outdoors and enjoyed camping, hiking, jogging, boating, cooking, crafts, and tennis.

She is survived by her two sons, a daughter, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 211 St. Mary's Ave., La Plata, Maryland on December 4, 2011, gathering 11 a.m. until time of service at 12 p.m.
