![]() On Sunday, April 1, 2007, Mary Erma Thompson of Lexington Park, Maryland quietly departed this life for one eternal at her residence.
Erma, as she was affectionately known, was born in Pisgah, Maryland on February 7, 1937 (she found out later that her birth year was actually 1936 but she refused to be a year older) to the late George Somerset and Estell Margurita Thompson. Prior to her move to St. Mary's County, Erma was previously a member of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, Indian Head, Maryland. She was very proud to be able to purchase her own home in Lexington Park and decorated it to suit her style. She enjoyed arts and crafts, planting flowers and sewing. She especially enjoyed Sunday and holiday dinners with her family. Her children and grandchildren were a source of joy to her and she was proud of them all. Erma had a special gift working with the elderly who were in poor health. She used her gift and became an in-home Caregiver working for various families throughout the years. Erma was a strong and independent woman who like to be in control. She would be the one telling you what to do and not you telling her! Even as her health declined, she was still telling her family what she wanted, right down to the last detail! Left to cherish her memory are her children; Brenda L. Thomas, Glynn Dickerson and Corrine M. Jamison; grandchildren, DeCarl M. Thomas, Tiffany Dickerson, Te'Ona Baker, Michelle, Gabrielle and Rochelle Dickerson, great grandchildren, DeOntra Thomas and Taynisha Butler, son-in-law, Daniel L. Thomas, daughter-in-law, Tarea R. Dickerson, sister, Mary Eleanor Smith, sisters-in-law, Josephine and Roberta Thompson, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her viewing will take place on Saturday, April 7th, 9:00a.m. until time of service 10:00a.m. at Thornton Funeral Home, Rte. 227, Pomonkey, Maryland. Interment St. Charles Cemetery, Glymont, Maryland. |
