Eva Mabel Hill, 87 of Mechanicsville, MD, died on September 27, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital, Leonardtown, MD. Born on June 5, 1924 in Bushwood, MD, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Wathen and Rosetta Pilkerton Wathen.

She was a waitress for many years with her last employment at The Halfway House Restaurant in Mechanicsville. Her greatest enjoyments in life were being with her family and friends. This included her Sunday gatherings with her husband and children for a spiritual hour that included listening to the inspirational music of The Gaithers. She enjoyed collecting and receiving, as gifts from her family, angel statuary. Her collection covers most of her home and gardens.

She was predeceased in death by five brothers: James Wathen, Albert Wathen, Henry Wathen, Hayden Wathen, and Woodrow Wathen. She was predeceased by four sisters: Josephine Hutchinson, Viola Whipty and Louise Morgan and Florence Wathen. She was predeceased by three grandchildren: Ernie Hill, Sheila Beadle and John Vernon Nagle.

She is survived by her husband Joseph A. Hill; daughters; Shirley Ann Wilkerson (Joseph), Gloria Jean Bartelmes (Gerald), Janet Nagle (John), all of Mechanicsville. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation on Sunday, October 2, 2011 from 6 - 8 pm at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m on Monday, October 3, 2011. Interment will follow services at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD.

The Reverend Joseph Wible of River Church of Hughesville will officiate at the services. Pallbearers are Ira Greene, Corey Wilkerson, Jaime Wilkerson, Joe Wood, Todd Wood, and Billy Beadle.
