Dawn Lisa Montgomery was born October 28, 1982, in Clinton, MD, to David Louis Coombs and the late Jocelyn Nadine Montgomery. Suddenly on September 17, 2011, while traveling home, she transitioned from this earthly life to life eternal.

Dawn was educated in the Charles County Public School System and graduated from Henry E. Lackey High School in 2000 where she studied Child Development.

After completing high school, she worked at the Child Development Center in Indian Head, MD as a child care assistant. Later she worked at the Food Lion in Bryans Road, MD as a deli clerk. She also worked at Burger King in both Bryans Road and Waldorf, MD where she held various positions. She later worked at the Hampton Inn in Waldorf, MD as a housekeeper, before becoming employed at Captain Billy's Seafood Restaurant in Cobb Island, MD as a cook.

Dawn loved to have a good time with her close friends, Crystal Hill, Latoya Adams, and Denise Artman. She carried on in her mother's likeness by giving everyone and everything a nickname and she loved to talk trash. In her spare time, she enjoyed drawing and listening to all types of music. One of her recent favorite songs was "Smile" by Kirk Franklin, which clearly reflected her warm personality. Dawn had a way with children, she could connect with all the children in the family and the neighborhood in just minutes. This is why her most enjoyable moments where those she spent with her two children. Dawn was preceded in death by her mother, Jocelyn Nadine Montgomery, grandmother, Beulah Montgomery, grandfather, James Edward Coombs and her uncle Harry "Johnson" Coombs.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children: Tashauna Mia and Aspen Eric Key; her father, David Louis Coombs (Loretta); three sisters, Ava Montgomery, Nicole Johnson (Vincent) and Reeva Wood, a twin brother, Colin Montgomery; grandmother, Mary "Martha" Coombs; grandfather, Willie Montgomery; one aunt, Diane Coombs; two uncles, Joe and Melvin "Nellie" Coombs; five nieces, Nakia, Tameka, Aiyona, Aniya, and Jada Montgomery; two nephews, Nico Montgomery and David Wilson, Jr.; one great niece, Shaniya Riley, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Viewing, 10am until time of Service, 11am Monday, September 26, 2011 in the Chapel of Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland. Interment, Heritage Memorial Cemetery, Waldorf, Maryland.
