Dorothy A. Wheeler, 76, of Waldorf, Md. died September 12, 2011 at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. Born August 4, 1935, in La Plata, Md. she was the daughter of the late Archie Lyles and the late Eleanora Winters.

Mrs. Wheeler was a housekeeping supervisor for thirty-five years at Andrews Air Force Base in Camp Springs, Maryland. She enjoyed being with family and friends. She loved visiting the casinos and watching game shows especially Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years, Francis Wheeler. Her sister, Mary E. Douglas of Oakville, Md.; brother, James and his wife, Helen of La Plata, Md.; sister-in-law Lucille of La Plata, Md. and brother-in-law Jeremiah Mason of Leonardtown, Md.

She is survived by her daughter, Frances Diane Wheeler of Oxon Hill, Md.; granddaughter, Kristy Carlette Savoy of Oxon Hill, Md.; sisters, Mamie Mason of Leonardtown, Md. and Loretta and her husband, David Coombs of Mechanicsville, Md.; brothers, Jerome and his wife, Frances of Bryans Road, Md., Frederick and his wife, Mary and Leroy and Lawrence Lyles, all of La Plata, Md.; special aunt, Hildergarde Winters of La Plata, Md.; brother-in-law, Charles A Douglas of Oakville, Md. and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary's Avenue, La Plata, Md. Father John Reutemann will officiate. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Church Cemetery, La Plata, Md.
