Madeline Badovinac, 72, of Waldorf, MD, died September 12, 2011, at her residence with Hospice. Born July 3, 1939, in Gaffney, SC, she was the daughter of the late Haskell Bryant Thornton and the late Connie Duncan Thornton.

Mrs. Badovinac owned and operated Quality Carry-Out in Waldorf, MD from 1979-1982 and owned and operated Madeline's Catering throughout the late 80's and early 90's. She retired from the Department of Social Services after 29 years of service as a Child Support Enforcement Agent. She attended Pfeiffer College in Misenheimer, NC from 1958-1961 before relocating to the Washington metro area.

She enjoyed spending time cooking for her family, visiting with her friends and writing in her personal journals depicting life's events and her courageous battle against ALS. Her radiant smile warmed the hearts of everyone that she came into contact with. We will miss her immensely.

Predeceased by her parents; one brother, Dennis Thornton; and one sister, Elaine Ransdall.

Survived by her husband of 49 years, George Badovinac, Jr.; two sons, Brian Badovinac of Mechanicsville, MD and Allan Badovinac of Upper Marlboro, MD; one daughter, Georgiana Badovinac-Vernon of Leonardtown, MD. Also survived by four grandchildren, David Nicholas Badovinac, Sara Caroline Badovinac, Michael Charles Vernon, Jr. and Lily Maria Schirmacher.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 18, 2011 from 2-4PM and 6- 8PM with a Wake Service at 3PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, September 19, 2011 at 11AM at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 3320 St. Peter's Church Road, Waldorf, MD 20601-2359. Fr. Rudolfo Salinas will officiate. Pallbearers will be Brian Badovinac, Allan Badovinac, Michael Vernon, Jr., Scott Chatham, James Thompson and David Anderson. Interment will be Monday, September 19, 2011, following service at St. Peter's Catholic Church Cemetery.
