Jerry Lanier, 67, of Waldorf, MD died September 4, 2011 with his family at his bedside at the Washington Hospital Center.

Jerry was known as the Christmas Man. Locally he was known for his handmade wooden Christmas caricatures that were unique. His railroad, that extended from one end of the property to the other, included characters that his grandchildren suggested to him over the years. A friendly smile, a wave and he would stop and talk to everyone as he spent a couple of months hanging lights and putting decorations on every part of the yard. The decorations always reflected his sense of humor and his dedication to his family. He will be missed by many people and without him Quade Street will not be nearly as bright missing both his lights and the gentle smile.

Jerry is survived by his Wife, Helene (Tina) Lanier; Mother, Edna Lanier; brothers, Keith Lanier and Nelson Lanier; 6 sons, 1 daughter and their spouses, Jerry Lanier Jr and Linda Richardson, Christina and Mark Klenk, Ronnie and Wanda Lanier, Larry Jr and Mary Gray, Michael Lanier, Wayne and Danielle Lanier, Forrest and Tina Gray; 7 grandsons and 6 granddaughters, Patrick Klenk, India Sellman, Ryan Klenk, Christina Thompson, Zachary Klenk, Amber Curtis, Nicholas Gray, Christopher Jelley, Miranda Gray, Rontae Lanier, Ashlie Coon, Anthony Gray and Alexis Gray. Also included is numerous extended family and friends.

Jerry is preceded by his Father Norwood Lanier Sr and brother Norwood Lanier Jr.
