Mary Jane Farrell, 70, of Cobb Island, MD, died August 24, 2011, at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC. Born May 27, 1941, in Bel Alton, MD, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Harry Welch and the late Helen Levinia Goldsmith.

Mrs. Farrell was a toll collector for 23 years with the Harry Nice Bridge. She was a member of Christ Church, Wayside and a part- time worker at Dan's Store. She loved working in her yard, playing Keno and spent a lot of time on the river crabbing.

Predeceased by her parents.

Survived by her husband of 20 years, James W. Farrell; son, John F. Yates, Jr. of Cobb Island, MD; daughters, Lori A. (Donald) Hudson of Thomasville, NC; Marty J. (David) Young of King George, VA; Theresa L. Yates of WV; Linda S. Yates of White Plains, MD; sisters, Patsy (Walter) Coy of La Plata, MD; Sue (Edward) Murphy of Bel Alton, MD; Bessie (Phillip) Dirolf of Thompkinsville, MD; Helen Marie (Edward) Bridgett of Mechanicsville, MD. Also survived by five grandchildren, Tiffany, Felicia, Samantha, Autumn, and Collin and two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Issaiah.

Visitation will be Monday, August 29, 2011, from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, August 30, 2011, beginning at 10AM at Raymond Funeral Chapel. Rev. Mark Roberson will officiate. Interment will be at Holy Ghost Church Cemetery, Issue, MD. Pallbearers will be Philip Dirolf, Edward Murphy, Donald Hudson, William Swann, Kenny Staley and Paul Lundeerg.
