Anna Compton Burgess, 98, of Nanjemoy, MD passed away on July, 31, 2011 at the Woodbine Rehabilitation and Healthcare Facility.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; Benjamin B. Compton and Rosa Belle Gloden Compton. Husband; Alton P Burgess. Sons; Alton P. Burgess, Jr., and Compton B. Burgess. Brothers; Calvin Compton, and Keith Compton also predecease her.

She is survived by her daughters; Janet Thompson, June Readen (Fredrick, Jr.), and Laurie Wolfe. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Anna enjoyed crossword puzzles, embroidery, and collecting things.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2011 from 9 am until time of service at 11 am at the Arehart-Echols Funeral Home in La Plata, MD. Pastor David Gough will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Christ Church Old Durham Cemetery in Ironsides, MD.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Church Old Durham Parish.
