Leon Alford Taylor, 78, of Charlotte Hall, MD, died on July 29, 2011 at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Born, December 19, 1932 in Red Springs, NC, he was the son of Ira M. Taylor and Sally Mae Sessoms.

Mr. Taylor was the owner/operator of Interstate Batteries in Charlotte Hall, MD. He grew up in Luberton and St. Paul, NC. He entered the US Army and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from the Army after 30 years of service with the rank of Master Sergeant. Leon loved being with his family, especially all the children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His leisure activities included fishing, bowling, Ocean City, and Myrtle Beach.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian G. Taylor and children; Lindsey Carroll Taylor (Robin), Morris Taylor (Janice), and Cindy A. Neill (Tim). Grandchildren; Amanda Taylor, Christina Taylor, Alaina Rodriguez, Leslie Taylor, Jonathan Leon Neill, Michelle Snider, Brian Haupt. Great-grandchildren; Tyler Catterton, Angelina and Ava Rodriguez, Ethan and Emma Snider, and Lily Haupt. Sisters; Sadie Heidenthal, Clara Boyd, and Sue N. Taylor.

Predeceased by his parents and four brothers, Clyde Arnette, Willie Arnette, Curtis Taylor, and Edgar Taylor.

The family will receive friends for Leon's Life Celebration on Monday, August 1, 2011 from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm at the Hughesville Baptist Church, 8505 Leonardtown Rd., Hughesville, MD. A service will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 11:30 am at the Church, conducted by Pastor Keith Corrick. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.
