On Thursday, July 14, 2011, Mable Paulett Atlee Ball entered into her eternal rest at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion, Illinois.

Mable was born in Charles County, Maryland on February 6, 1947, to the late Godfrey Austin Atlee, Sr. and the late Louise Irene Ransome Atlee. She received her early childhood education in Charles County, Maryland public schools and graduated in 1965 from Pomonkey High School in Pomonkey, Maryland. After graduating from high school, Mable attended Morgan State College and Howard University. She finalized her education with a Bachelor and Master of Science at Trinity University in Washington, DC.

In September 1969, Mable and the late Thomas Derith Ball, Sr. were united in marriage. From this union, they were blessed with two children, Thomas Derith Ball, Jr. and Cher Monique Ball. Mable was employed with the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, DC and retired in July 2000, with 31 years of service. After retirement she pursued her passion for education and children by becoming a substitute teacher in the Charles County Public School system. This led to a permanent position as an Instructional Assistant at Arthur Middleton Elementary School in Waldorf, MD.

Mable was known for her kind spirit, loving heart and dedication to helping others. She will always be remembered as a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.

Mable is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sisters Mayme Atlee and Joyce Atlee Hart. She leaves to cherish fond memories, a son Thomas Derith Ball, Jr.; a daughter Cher Monique Ball; two grand-daughters, Egypt Ball and Symone Welch; a precious grandson Austin Cagnolatti; sisters: Joan Tolson, Marsha Atlee Harley, and Gladys Stuart; brothers: Godfrey Atlee, Jr., Ivry Atlee, Sr., and Ronald Atlee; special nieces and a nephew that were fondly thought of as siblings: Joslyn Swann, Jacqueline Hart, Janis Hart, Terri Tolson-Neal and James "Baby Jr" Hart (God-son); mother-in-law, Florence Stoddard; additional God-children: Keisha Atlee and Brandon Hart, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, aunts, uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011 at From the Heart Church Ministries, 4949 Allentown Road, Suitland, MD. Viewing 10 a.m. Homegoing Service 11 a.m. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, MD.
