Jerry, as he was more affectionately known was born on June 4, 1931 in Charles County Maryland, to the late Nelli E. Gross and the late Francis Jenifer, and was christened at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Issue, Maryland.

Jerry's early childhood was spent in Charles County, where he received his education. In 1951 Jerry joined the U.S. Army where he received an Honorable discharge after serving four years of service. In 1961, he married his soul mate; his macaroni and cheese; his peanut butter and jelly and the love of his life; Helen Marie Hill, and they lived happily together for 45 years.

Jerry was a devoted truck driver who took pride in making sure his uniforms were starched and pressed daily. He made numerous friends as he joked and teased them on his routine stops. In 1993, Jerry retired after driving many years for A.M. Briggs, Co., Sommerville Plumbing Co. and the District Wholesale Co. Jerry was a loving husband and a great Godfather and a good friend. He was just a great guy.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Marie, his step father, William Gross, one niece Theresa Vaughn, one nephew, Darryl Chisley, seven sisters-in-law, Beverly Cramer, Ft. Washington, Md., Thelma Wilson, Tacoma Park, Md., Mable Johnson, Bronx, N.Y., Ivy Chisley, Hyattsville, Md. and Beverly Hill, Mt. Ranier, Md., one brother in law, Gilbert Hill, Mt. Ranier, Md.

In addition to his parents Jerry was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Randolph and Mildred Clark and four brothers-in-law, John, Lawrence, Elmer and Tom Hill.

His Viewing will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2007 from 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 am at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 2315 Brinkley Road, Fort Washington, Maryland. Interment, Fort Lincoln Cemetery Brentwood, Maryland.
