Rick Herrin, 59, lost his valiant battle with kidney cancer and died peacefully with loved ones at his bedside on June 10, 2011 at his home in Waldorf, Maryland. Born in Statesville, NC, he was the son of Patricia S. Herrin and the late Eugene M. Herrin.

He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Waldorf. He was employed at Prince George's Community College as the Physical Plant Supervisor of Maintenance. He served many years on the Waldorf American Little League Board of Directors, and coached baseball and softball as well. He was a former JV and Varsity softball coach for Westlake High.

Preceded in death by his father.

In addition to his mother, Rick is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan Herrin, son J.R. (Beth) Herrin of North Beach; daughter Stacey (Joe) Montefusco of New Jersery; grandchildren Olivia and Elijah Herrin of North Beach; brother, Timothy Herrin and sister, Marty Herrin of Maryland and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm June 14 at Peace Lutheran Church 401 East Charles Street in Waldorf, MD 20602. Services on Wednesday, June 15 at Peace Lutheran Church at 10 am. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Gettysburg, PA.
