Carroll B. Lusby, Sr., 85, of Solomon's, MD passes away on May 9, 2011 in Prince Frederick, MD. He was born on September 17, 1925 in Solomon's, MD to the late Guy A. and Virginia Knott Lusby.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 wives, Margaret L. Lusby and Thelma "Tillie" Taylor Lusby and a brother, Gary S. Lusby.

Carroll was born and raised in Solomon's, MD. He joined the army Air Corp in 1944 where he became an airplane and engine mechanic. He worked examining airplanes and engines in a preflight check and recommended repairs to be made. He was discharges as a Corporal at the end of the war. When he returned to Solomon's, he went to work on the Navy Base there as a firefighter. In the late 1940's he then went to work for Patuxent River Naval Air Station as a drafting engineer. He retired from the base and then went back to work there as a contractor until departure in the late 1980s. He was a founding member and life time member of the Solomon's fire and Rescue and the American legion Post #274 in Lusby, MD. He loved fishing, boating, and helping with work at the Calvert Marine Museum. He was known around Solomon's as a big jokester.

Carroll is survived by son Carroll Blaine Lusby, Jr. and his wife Robin of Lusby, MD, daughters Laura Lomax Lusby of Lusby, MD and Mary Lou Troutman and her husband Jeff of Pt. Lookout, MD. Grandfather of Anna Wood, Lorie Heacock, Christine "Red" Terrett, William Terrett, Steven Lusby, Sammy Lusby, Andy Troutman and Shannon Langley, he is also survived by six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in Solomon's United Methodist Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Solomon's Volunteer fire and Rescue Squad.
