Michael Bernard Simpson, 60, of Mechanicsville, MD died May 5, 2011 at his residence. Born April 12, 1951 in Washington, D.C., he was the son of William Anthony Simpson and Oral Lee Hill Simpson.

Michael was a retired Systems Controller for Steamfitters Local 602. He was an avid musician who loved to play his bass guitar. He was happiest riding his Triumph motorcycle through Southern Maryland and traveling with his wife, Deborah, on cross-country vacations to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

Michael was predeceased by his sister, Christine A. Taylor.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Cross Simpson; parents, William and Oral Lee Simpson of Myrtle Beach, SC; children, Jeffrey M. Simpson (Gina) of Boulder, CO, Jennifer M. Spalding (Ryan) of Louisville, CO, Lindsey G. Glover (Ben) of Keller, TX and Chris L. Romero of Clemson, SC; grandchildren, Taylor Spalding and Ryleigh Glover; sisters, Catherine E. Taylor-Sonnefeld (Jim) and Janine M. Simpson-Baker (Ben) and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends for Michael's Life Celebration on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD where a service will be held at 4:00p.m. Interment will be private.
