Douglas Martin Allen, age 43, of St. Leonard, MD died April 20, 2011 while in Germany with his family. Doug was born on November 17, 1967 in Baltimore, MD. He graduated from Liberty High School in Sykesville, MD in 1985.

Doug attended St. Mary's College of Maryland where he met his wife, Susan and graduated from St. Mary's College of Maryland in May of 1989 with degrees in Mathematics and Computer Science.

Doug married Susan L. (Horsmon) Allen on August 12, 1989.

Doug worked as a software and systems engineer as a contractor for the U.S. Government for over 20 years and the last couple of years, he worked directly for the U.S. Government. Most recently in Doug's career, he was the software lead developing CH-47F flight simulators for the U.S. Army. Doug was always very dedicated and passionate about his work and provided excellent support to his co-workers and customers.

Doug was truly devoted to his family as a loving father and husband. Doug loved fishing, boating, hunting, raising livestock and more than anything, he loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, the love of his life, Susan L. Allen; his son and best pal in the whole world, David M. Allen, his father and mother, August and Frances Allen of Sykesville, MD, brothers, James Allen of Richmondville, NY, Paul Allen (wife Lisa) of Sykesville, MD and Greg Allen of Sykesville, MD. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard & Phyllis Horsmon, sisters-in-law, Janice Eiler and Catherine Cosgrove (husband JR) all of St. Leonard, MD and nieces Katie and Sara Allen, Danielle Eiler, Kaitlyn Cosgrove; nephews Christopher Eiler and Wesley Cosgrove and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
