Ridgeley Delmar Cooksey, 89, of La Plata, MD, died April 26, 2011, at Genesis La Plata Center, La Plata, MD

Mr. Cooksey was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during World War II. He was a farmer and a member of Charles County Farm Bureau and FFA - Future Farmers of America. He was also a member of Christ Episcopal Church in La Plata.

Born November 27, 1921, in La Plata, MD, he was the son of the late Ellie La Plata Cooksey and the late Augustina Antoinette Ridgeley Cooksey.

Predeceased by his parents; brother, Tilden Cooksey; sister, Vera Davidson. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruth Virginia Cooksey; sons, David W. Cooksey and his wife Marie of La Plata, MD; Glenn S. Cooksey of La Plata, MD; daughters, Susan A. and her husband Norman Spaulding of Chantilly, VA; Wendy C. and her husband Jeffrey Stanley of Coldwater, OH. Also survived by seven grandchildren, Jonathan Spaulding, Carl Cooksey, John Cooksey, Shanann Cooksey, Joshua Stanley, Jodi Stanley, Jillian Stanley and three great-grandchildren, Chloe, Caroline and Ava Jane.

Visitation will be on Sunday, May 1, 2011, from 3PM until time of funeral service at 5PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Rev. Mark Roberson will officiate. Interment will be on Monday, May 2, 2011, at 10AM at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. Pallbearers will be family members. Honorary pallbearers will be the United States Air Force Honor Guard.
