James Dominick Cox, Sr., 90, of White Plains, MD, died March 31, 2011, at his residence. Mr. Cox was a Home Heating/ Oil (AAMCO) Business Owner for more than 25 years and was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Plata, MD and was the oldest active member of the American Legion Post in La Plata, MD.

He loved to travel with his wife and most enjoyed taking care of his yard. Born November 21, 1920, in White Plains, MD, he was the son of the late Jesse Arthur Cox and the late Anna Cecelia Mudd Cox.

Predeceased by his parents; one son, James D. Cox, Jr.; two daughters, Patricia Louise Cox and Donna Leigh Stafford; one step- son, Patrick Stonestreet; one brother, Jesse Cox; and two sisters, Julia Totten and Cecelia Gardiner; one step-brother, Raphael Cox; and one step-sister, Sister Mary Meletia, SSND.

Survived by his wife of 24 years, Rose Anna Cox; one brother, Ritchie (Teresa) Cox of Clinton, MD; and one sister, Eleanor Mudd Edelen of PA; one step-son, Philip Stonestreet of Winchester, VA; and two step-daughers, Patricia McWhorter of Largo, FL and Lisa Frazier of Glen Rock, PA. Also survived by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 7, 2011, from 2-4pm and 6- 8pm with American Legion Services at 7pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, April 8, 2011, at 10am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 201 St. Mary's Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646. Interment will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD. Father John Reutemann will officiate. Pallbearers will be grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be the United States Army Honor Guard.
