Mrs. Mackin was a Security Clearance Officer with the Pentagon for 30 years. She was of the Lutheran faith. She grew up on a farm, loving horses and her cats. She most enjoyed being with her grandchildren.

She was daughter of the late William Kahler and the late Katie Mae Hartman Kahler.

She was predeceased by her parents; late husband John Mackin; her late brother, William Kahler; and a late sister, Margaret Murphy.

She is survived by one son, Phil Mackin of Upper Marlboro, MD; one daughter, Susan (Paul) Heidemann of Waldorf, MD; and one brother, Edward Kahler. Also survived by four grandchildren, Kathryn, Lisa, Joseph, and Amy; and 2 great grandchildren, Michael and Nicole.

Friends received on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 from 1:30pm until time of Funeral Service at 3pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD. Clergy will be the Rev. Charles Long Internment will follow at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA.
