Mr. Francis Joseph Nimmerrichter went to be with his Lord on March 23, 2011 at Civista Medical Center in La Plata, MD, surrounded by his family. Francis was born January 17, 1927 to Francis and Lena Nimmerrichter of Brandywine, MD.

He was the beloved husband of Loretta Moran Nimmerrichter. He married Loretta Moran on Friday the 13th in 1950.

He was the father of Lawrence (Sheila) and Susan (David) Hungerford. He was the grandfather of L. J. (Amy) and Michelle McDaniel (Jeff), and Melissa (Steve) Speilman. He was the great-grandfather of the wonderful Ronan Francis Nimmerrichter and the sweet Emme Speilman. He was the uncle of Cliff Moran and Vickie Wegand. He is also survived by sister, Dorothy Lee Bullock.

His siblings, Rose, Paul, and Leonard predeceased him.

He is also survived by his beloved sister-in-law, Betty Nimmerrichter and many nieces and nephews.

Francis attended Baden Elementary School and was in the first graduating class from Gwynn Park High School. He joined the Merchant Marine at the age of 16, during World War II and served in the North Atlantic on merchant ships. He then served in the U. S. Army in Korea. Upon return to civilian life, he was a lineman for PEPCO.

He operated with his brother, Paul, Roundhouse Bar and Tavern in Malcolm. He was a member of the Charles County Restaurant Association and was President for several years of the Maryland State Restaurant Association. After selling to his brother, he went on to own, with his wife, Waldorf Chrysler Plymouth. After many years, he sold that business and went to work as an insurance agent for People's Security Insurance Agency. He retired there after 10 years.

Francis served on the Board of Directors of Southern Maryland Electric for over 27 years. In between running his various businesses, he farmed. He raised tobacco and corn. He would be the only one who would climb the very top of the large barn to hang the tobacco to dry. He was a licensed pilot to the plane that was kept on the farm. He liked to hunt and fish and to play cards.

His father was from Vienna, Austria and he and Loretta traveled many times to visit his numerous relatives in Europe. His cousin, Dr. Hans Pflaum, named his daughter "Loretta" and she is now a well-known actress in Europe. Francis loved his farm and wanted nothing more than to be there.
