Linda Marie Kimble, 69 of Leonardtown, MD passed from this earthly existence on February 27, 2007 in Glen Burnie, MD.
She was born, Linda Marie Heikkila, on November 27, 1937 in Windham, OH. She grew up, speaking the native family Finnish. Once entering school she learned English and excelled in academics where she proved her giftedness by graduating as valedictorian, from Windhaam High School. Upon graduation, she promptly secured a position working in Washington, DC, where she met and fell in love with William Kimble, who became her husband of the past 50 past years. The two raised a daughter, Rosalind, and had two grandchildren, Kielen and Autumn, that they adored. Linda worked for 15 years as a Girl Scout Leader for the GSCNC, and worked for 25 years in various positions in the government. Her favorite stories were of the years she served on John F. Kennedy's "President's Committee for Mental Retardation," and the years she served the Eisenhower Administration on the "Atomic Energy Commission," In addition, she served several years at NESEA, and Force Warfare, in material control and security positions. She enjoyed God's Creation, particularly finding peace on the seashore, and loved camping and hiking. In her earlier years she and William could boast of walking the 184.5 miles of the C & O Canal, with family and their Girl Scouts. She loved a good auction any day and wouldn't pass up an opportunity to go to Ocean City for Thrasher's French Fries! Her life was full and brief, as Diabetes and Renal Failure robbed her of her years. Her sunset celebration was observed with a private family memorial. The family humbly requests memorial contributions made to: National Kidney Foundation, 6110 Executive Blvd., Rockville, MD 20852 and/or American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311 in her honor of her life of service to others. Arrangements handled by Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, Charlotte Hall, MD. |
