Charles Leroy Lee age 63 of La Plata, Maryland was born November 23, 1947 to the late Emma Victoria Lee Goldring. Leroy departed this life on March 16, 2011 at the VA Hospital in Washington DC.

Leroy was the 2nd of 13 children. He grew up in Southern Maryland and was educated in Charles County Public School system. Leroy served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1966 to 1968. He worked for A-Whisco, INC. in Waldorf, Maryland until he retired in July 2010.

Leroy was a fun loving person. He always liked being with his family and friends. He also liked cooking Sunday dinner to enjoy with whom ever came to his home. He will always be remembered for his wonderful biscuits and fried cabbage. He enjoyed listening to the music of James Brown and playing his guitar. Leroy played in several bands in the area, sometimes playing with big name bands like Wilson Pickett, Little Anthony and others stars that came to the Moonlight Inn and the Howard Theater.

In addition to his mother, Emma V. Lee Goldring, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Sylvester Thomas Goldring and sister, Shirley Yvonne Goldring.

Leroy leaves to cherish his memories daughters, Shawn, Stephanie and Coletta; five sisters, Catherine (Edward) Countiss, Victoria (Lonnie) Smith, Linda (Henry) Hall, Delores (Sidney) Jetton and Angela Goldring; five brothers, Larry, John (Edwin), Mike, Jerry, and Tony (Kim) Goldring; an aunt, Inez Cook and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Viewing, Friday, March 25, 2011 in the Chapel of THORNTON Funeral Home, P.A., 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, Maryland from 10:00am until time of Service, 11:00am. Interment, Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Maryland.
