Doris Jean Young of Waldorf, Maryland, died on March 14, 2011, after a short illness, at Halquist Memorial Inpatient Center, Arlington, VA. She was 85 years old.

Born on January 30, 1926, in Morgan Station, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Sturgeon Zebley and the late Lena Gertrude Wilson Zebley.

Mrs. Young, who was affectionately known as "Granny" was a homemaker and a member of the North Union High School Class of 1944, Uniontown, PA. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, reading and being with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Jacob Zebley Young.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, William D. "Pappy" Young, Jr. of Waldorf, MD; her sons, William Richard Young and his wife Karen of La Plata, MD; Jeffrey Dickens Young and his wife Terri of Waldorf, MD; John David Young and his wife Melanie of Potomac Falls, VA; daughter, Jerri Lynn Persinger and her husband Donnie of Waldorf, MD; brothers, Robert "Bob" Zebley, Charles Zebley and Donald "Don" Zebley; sisters, Shirley Susano, Kathryn DeWitt and Linda Carcelli; ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 21, 2011, at 11AM at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.

Reverend Wayne Snead, Senior Pastor at Galilee United Method Church will officiate.
