![]() John Elder Proctor Jr. of White Plains, Maryland, died at his home on Friday, February 25, 2011. He was 72 years old.
Born on June 19, 1938 in Prince George's County, Maryland, he is the son of Regina and the late John Elder Proctor Sr. "Junior", as he was affectionately known, worked for Giant Foods as a manager and retired after 33 years of service. He later worked for the Prince George's County School system as a substitute. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Bryantown Council and was a Third Degree Knight. Also was a member, an usher, greeter and coffee maker, and involved with the Faith-In-Forward Program at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Waldorf. He played baseball in his younger years, and was an avid Washington Redskins football fan. He enjoyed cars, having owned several Corvettes, and would often attend car shows and watch his brothers' race at Budd's Creek and Capital Raceway. He was very attentive to his granddaughters and their activities. Junior was a very well loved man, who never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his father. In addition to his mother of Brandywine, he is survived by his wife Dunreath "Dunnie" Proctor; son John M. and his wife Diana Proctor of Spotslvania, VA; his daughter Theresa Lynette Proctor of Alexandria, VA; his three granddaughters Amanda, twins Kaitlyn and Megan; his three sisters Lorraine and her husband Gene Thompson, Judy and her husband Lacey Thompson, Patrice Proctor; his three brothers Bobby and his wife Betty Proctor, Stanley and his wife Ernestine Proctor, Jerry Proctor; also survived by four aunts, two uncles, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Visitation on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 from 9:30AM to 11AM with Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church 100 Village Street Waldorf, MD 20602 with Father Alain officiating. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, MD. Pallbearers are Lacey Thompson, Randy Proctor, Donnie Proctor, Lemuel Proctor, Gary Poullard, Glenn Plater.
