To My Family,

What I did and where I came from are of least importance, as I think of the here and now.

It is my wish that you put your attention on the Blessings of here and now.

In the place of my obituary, I want to express my gratitude to each of you and I thank God for all of you.

I give thanks for the life I've lived. I would have loved to stay with you, but my Lord has sent me on another path. I chose to go his way now and it's time I travel alone. So grieve awhile for me and let it go. God blessed us with many years together. So just cherish the memories and I'll see you all again.

George Russell Thompson was born to Josephine Proctor Thompson and the late George Somerset Thompson, Jr. on May 5, 1945 in Waldorf, Maryland. Russell peacefully went home to glory on Thursday, February 3, 2011, at the Specialty Hospital of Washington Hadley in Washington, D.C.

In addition to his father, Russell was preceded in death by his wife Mary, sisters, Elizabeth "Tat" Proctor, Barbara Ann Thompson and Tammy D. Thompson

Left to cherish fond memories are, his mother, Josephine P. Thompson; sisters, Eleanor M. Proctor and Joyce T. Smith; brothers, Jerry L. Thompson and Joseph "Hank" Thompson; sisters-in-law, Betty J. Thompson and Debbie Thompson; brothers-in–law, Gene Proctor, William W. Smith, Jr. and Thomas C. Proctor, Jr.; aunts, Eleanor Smith and Bert Thompson and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, special friend, Ruby Bailey, other relatives and friends.

Viewing, 10:00am until Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00am on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 4590 St. Joseph's Way, Pomfret, Maryland. Interment, Church Cemetery.
