Wilson Bowman (Tom), 87, Pisgah was born October 9, 1923 in Pisgah, MD, to the late Ulysses and Eva Savoy Bowman. He departed this life on Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at the Birchwood Group Home. Accokeek, MD.

Daddy, Papa, Uncle B, Tom as he was fondly called by his family, endured his illness with dignity.

Tom attended public schools in Charles County, MD. In May 1948, he moved to New York City and later found employment with the Con Edison Company where he retired on November 1, 1985. Prior to Tom's retirement, he had already built his new home in Pisgah, knowing that after retirement he would be returning to Maryland to be close to his siblings. He truly enjoyed sharing his New York way of life stories with his family and friends.

Tom was married to the late Edna Valencia which ended in divorce. From that union, one son Jesus Manuel Bowman was born. Manuel as he was known later passed September 7, 2006.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, son, Manuel Bowman, brothers, James, William (Cabby) and Charles Bowman, sisters, Ann B. Gray and Evelyn B. Howard.

He is survived by his daughters, Dorothy Mae Judge (Wiley), Laverne B. Preston and Lisa M. Ushry, son, Thomas Bowman and like a son, James Day, sisters, Marguerite Harvey, Violet Simmons, Elaine Baker, Blondell Swann(Milton) and Catherine (Liz) Thompson, brothers, J. Kenneth(Mary Ellen, G. Calvin, Paul(Bobby) and Francis (Sonny)Penny, a son-in-law, Wiley Judge, grandchildren, great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends will cherish his memory.

Tom always looked forward to visits with his very special grandson, Ethan Ricaurte whom he affectionately referred to as the "Rabbit". Ethan lives in New York.

Visitation will be held from 10a.m. until time of Service, 11a.m. at Thornton Funeral Home, 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD. Interment, Private.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
