Sarah Herbert Wood, 95, formerly of Hughesville, Maryland, died on Monday, January 17, 2011 at Solomons Nursing Center.

Born April 29, 1915 in Hughesville, MD she was the daughter of the late Peter G. Herbert and Agnes S. Wood.

She graduated from LaPlata High School, and grew up in Ripley, MD. She was a member of Old Field's Episcopal Church.

She was an Auxiliary-lifetime member of the DAV; she and her husband operated a ceramics business from their home for many years, where she taught classes, and was a Certified Doll Artisan.

She is survived by two sons, Donald W. and wife, Katie of Charleston, MS,Thomas E. of Martinsburg, WV, and one daughter, Margaret A. (Peggy) and her husband Bill of Martinsburg, WV; five grandchildren, Katherine Anderson and Kellie Toth, Bonnie Johnston, and Sara (Susie) Emrich Pickett and Angela Michelle Emrich; seven great grandchildren, Sarah and Alyssa Wood, David Wood , Olivia and Kit Johnston, Anna Taylor Pickett, and Sabrina Richardson,

Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Wood, Jr., two brothers, Charles and Samuel, and one sister, Minnie.

A viewing will be held on Friday, January 21, 2011 from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. with prayers held at 7 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Old Fields Episcopal Church, Hughesville, MD. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
