Helen Norma Buhl Wood, 86, of Winter Garden, FL, formerly of St. Leonard, MD passed away on January 14, 2011 in Winter Garden FL. She was born on January 23, 1924 in Kane, PA to the late Myron William and Ebba Christina Sadith Anderson Buhl.

Besides her parents, she is also predeceased by her husband Philip G. Wood, son Paul Andrew Wood and daughter, Elaine Ruth Wood.

Norma got her undergraduate degree from Indiana State College and received her Master's Degree from University of Maryland. She taught Business Education at Calvert Senior High School. Norma and her husband Philip also were part owners of the Lumber Co. that used to operate in St. Leonard, MD. She enjoyed music, playing the piano and singing. She also liked to talk politics and religion. She was an avid reader, reading her Bible over many times. She liked to keep up with current events, crossword puzzles, and to travel. Norma was a very family oriented person and she loved to tell stories of her family and things they used to do.

She is survived by four daughters: Ebba Wood Bowen (Ray) of Longwood, FL, Katie Wood Bowen (Donald) of Mt. Sterling, KY, Patty Wood Rumaker (Joe) of Birmingham, AL, and Mary Wood Langley (Keith) of Winter Garden FL. Grandmother of Jason Bowen (Lisa), Lake Mary, FL, Travis Bowen, Longwood, FL, Gary Bowen (Maura) of Columbus, OH, Kim Schweitzer (Charles) of Paris, KY, Robert Wilkes of Maylene, AL, Michael Williams of Pittsburgh, PA and Kevin Langley of Winter Garden, FL. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Jackson, Henry and Ollie Bowen, Courtlin and Carly Schweitzer and Logan Williams.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday January 18, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Rausch Funeral Home, P.A., 4405 Broomes Island Road, Port Republic, MD. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday January 19, 2011, 10 A.M. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 90 Church Street, Prince Frederick, MD. Interment will follow in Asbury Cemetery, Barstow, MD. Pallbearers will be Ray Bowen, Donald Bowen, Joe Rumaker, Keith Langley, Gary Bowen, Jason Bowen, Travis Bowen, Michael Williams, and Kevin Langley.

Memorial contributions may be made to either Trinity United Methodist Church or the Salvation Army.
