Robert "Bobby" Eugene Cooper, 77, of Mechanicsville, Maryland died January 15, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. Born September 1, 1933 in Leonardtown, Maryland. He is the son of late Robert E. Cooper and the late Adele Cooper Joy.

Mr. Cooper was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who enjoyed life with his family. He enjoyed crabbing, fishing, hunting and morning meetings at New Market Exxon and Texaco. He retired from SMECO in 1994 as a manager. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mechanicsville Optimist, Mechanicsville Little League and Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department, Christmas In April, St. Mary's Chamber of Commerce and a Lifetime Member of the Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad. He also served in the National Guard in the 1950's.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Ellen Quade Cooper; children, Gloria A. Ramos and her husband Mickey, Linda M. Kelley, Robert E. Cooper, Janet L. Richardson and her husband Steve, and John F. Cooper; brother, Joseph W. Cooper; sisters, Cyndi Wood, Debbie Joy and Sandy Hoflich; grandchildren, Harmony Ferris, JoHanna Shriver, Amberly Kelley, Robert Shane Cooper, Austin Burch Cooper, Tiffany Curry, Brandi Cooper, John Cooper, Carlena Cooper, Luke Cooper; great grandchildren, Cooper Ferris, Caroline Ferris, Ava Shriver, Jackson Kelley, Branson Kelley, Collin Curry, Liam Cooper and One on the way in May.

Besides his parents he is pre-deceased by his brother James Larry Cooper.

The family will receive friends at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622, for his Life Celebration from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM, where prayers will be said at 7PM, on Tuesday, January 18, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend John Caulfield on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 10AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mechanicsville, Maryland. Interment will follow the mass at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Morganza, Maryland.

Pallbearers will be Shane Cooper, Austin Cooper, Kevin Ferris, Dave Kelley, Richard Curry, John M. Ramos, Steve Richardson, and Charles Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be John Matthews, Richard Lacey, Joseph Cooper, J.C. Cooper and Luke Cooper.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad or Hospice of St. Mary's County.
