Donald Edward Goldsmith Sr., 73, of Hughesville, Maryland died on March 8, 2007 at his home. He was a life-long Charles County resident, farmer and a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bryantown. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks and the Moose and enjoyed auctions and collecting.

Born September 18, 1933 in Benedict, Maryland, he was the son of the late E. Garfield Goldsmith and the late Mary Martha Goldsmith.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Costello Goldsmith; sons, Donald Jr., Lawrence, Bruce, David and Joseph Goldsmith; daughter Janet Lee Gardiner; daughters-in-law Vicki, Lori, Sandy and Terri; son-in-law Allen Gardiner; grandchildren Brian and Chris Gardiner, Danny, Eric, Lori, Michael, Laura, Patrick, Angela, Kelly, Amy, Joseph Jr., Steven and Kristen Goldsmith; step-grandchildren Cory and Michael Bond, Michelle Haley, Monica and Mitchell Guyton; great grandsons Kyle Gardiner and Joseph Goldsmith III; step-great granddaughters Rachel and Abigail Bond and Rachel Haley; sisters Doris Montgomery, Audrey Clements, Jeannette Schedel and Geraldine Usery; brother Garfield Goldsmith.

Visitation on Sunday, March 11, 2007 from 4PM to 7PM with Prayer Service at 5:30PM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church 13175 Notre Dame Place Bryantown, Maryland where Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, March 12, 2007 at 10AM. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mr. Goldsmith's grandsons and Honorary Pallbearers will be Mr. Goldsmith's granddaughters.
