![]() Elbert Harrison Douglas, 92 of Charlotte Hall, MD died December 11, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital. Born October 30, 1918 in Charlotte Hall, he was the son of Charles Patrick Douglas and Charlotte Cecelia Butler Douglas.
Harrison Douglas was a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II. He also participated in the building of the Alaskan highway. He was employed as a plumber for many years with the Patuxent Naval Air Station. His special love was playing the piano in church which he did up to November 2010. Some of Harrison Douglas's famous quotes were "you don't know like I know" and "understanding is great if you have the understanding. A few of his nick names were Quilla, Bacon and old Israel when he was extra happy. Besides his parents, Harrison Douglas was predeceased by his wife, Mary Hattie Douglas and the following siblings, Earl Douglas, Ralph Douglas, Jasper (John) Douglas, Worthington Douglas, Eva Gross, Ellis Douglas, William Douglas, Andrew Douglas, Marie Douglas Gant and Florence Williams. He is survived by sons Francis Douglas (Mary) of Lexington Park, Howard Douglas (Donna) of King George, VA, Joseph Garnell Douglas of Mechanicsville, MD and daughters, Gladys June (James) of Ft. Meade, MD and Lorraine Douglas of Mechanicsville, MD. Fourteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren, He also leaves his very special friends, the Ebenezer Church family, step son William Brown, nieces Geraldine June, Delores Chesley, Judy Spears, Patricia Young, and Catherine Young, sister-in-laws, Mary T. Douglas, Margaret Corrine Douglas, Sarah Adams, Dorothy Thomas, and Gladys Thomas. A Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday, December 17, 2010 from 9-11 a.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD where Funeral Services will be Friday, December 17, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Richard McNair officiating. Interment will follow at Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD. Pall Bearers: Vincent June, Alfonso Holton, Mark L. Douglas, Mark Stephen Douglas, Ricardo Douglas, and Dwight Brown. Honorable Pall Bearers: William Brown, Gerald Douglas, Patrick Douglas, Rayshawn Douglas and Paul Brown.
