Lila was a Caregiver for 45 years and a member of New Life Church in La Plata, MD. She was a Community Organizer, working with the food-bank for Cypress Terrace and many other organizations. She was a single mother of 5 children and 4 foster children. She was always there for her children and was never a judgmental person. She was an avid reader and loved both music and drawing.

Daughter of the late William Stokes and the late Lucille Grimes.

Predeceased by her parents.

Survived by her son, Cornell Lincoln Barnett of La Plata, MD; four daughters, Giovanni R. Burton, Juanita M. Sneed, Toni C. Cheeseman, and Lucinda Y. Mathis. Also survived by 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held at Raymond Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, November 23, 2010.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at 12pm at New Life Wesleyan Church, 9690 Shepherd's Creek Place, La Plata, MD 20646.

Clergy: Rev. Mike Hilson.

Interment: New Life Church Cemetery, La Plata, MD.
