![]() Mildred B. Shields, age 88, died November 20, 2010 at Asbury Solomons Health Care Center. She was born April 15, 1922 in Lake Shore Township, Madison, Minnesota to Edwin Ben and Josephine (Olson) Bjornson.
Mildred attended rural schools and graduated from Madison High School in 1939. She then attended Nettleton Commercial College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She received an appointment to the F.B.I. in Washington, DC as a clerk typist. She was married to Edward Byrnes Shields, a special agent for the F.B.I. at St. Martins Catholic Church in Washington, DC. The couple resided in Washington, DC, West Hyattsville, Cheverly before moving to Dunkirk in 1973. Mildred was a charter member of First Lutheran Church, helping to make altar hanging and vestments. For more than forty years Mildred studied, bartered, bought, repaired and refinished antiques. She owned and operated Spinning Wheel Antiques Shop in Old Bowie. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward B. Shields, Sr. on February 28, 1991 a daughter Patricia Bramhall, a granddaughter Christine Bramhall and brothers Parnell and James Bjornson. Surviving are her sons Edward B. Shields, Jr. "Ned" and his wife Pattie of Owings, MD, Kevin J. Shields, and his wife Julie of Rockledge, FL and Tom M. Shields of Owings, MD. Grandchildren Sam, Robert and Stephen Bramhall, Katie Shields Dammeyer, Casey and Brian Shields and five great grandchildren. Arrangements provided by Rausch Funeral Home.
