![]() On Sunday, October 24, 2010, the Lord called Samuel D. J. Posey to his heavenly home. He was a precious jewel and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. D. J. was born on August 28, 1979 in La Plata, Maryland to the late Donnell Samuel (Wink) Posey and Mary Mona Lisa Posey-Cooper.
D. J. was raised and educated in the Charles County Public School System. After graduating from Thomas Stone High School in 1997, D. J. worked as a dishwasher at Damon's in Waldorf, Maryland and worked at Southern Maryland Hospital as a clerk before getting his CDL license and working as a truck driver for A. A. Reliable Trash Service in White Plains, Maryland, and Waste Management in Waldorf, Maryland, followed by his employment with the Virginia Department of Transportation as a Highway Maintenance Worker. At the time of his death, D. J. was employed with the National Park Service in Washington, D. C. as a Maintenance Worker. Football was D. J.'s favorite sport. He played football for the majority of his life and all through high school. He was a diehard Washington Redskins Fan. During his adult life, he coached Little League football because he really enjoyed coaching and working with children. One of D. J.'s goals was to coach his son in football. D. J. loved to ride his motorcycle with his brother, Marvin and other family members and friends. He annually attended the International Motorcycle Show, Black Bike Week in Myrtle Beach and other racing events at the Maryland International Raceway. D. J. would always tease and joke with his sister Kern until she smiled. D. J. loved spending time with his family and friends. He also loved to travel and record videos. D. J. was a loving, caring and devoted father, son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend. D. J.'s smile would light up any room he entered. He always had a smile and kind word to say all who met him. On May 31, 2007, D. J. and Delicia Hancock were blessed with Donzell D. J. Posey. D. J. was the epitome of a good father. Donzell was D. J.'s pride and joy and was number one in his life.D. J. and Donzell did everything together. D. J. will truly be missed, but never forgotten, by everyone that was fortunate enough to have met him. He leaves to cherish many memories; his son Donzell Posey; mother, Mary Mona Lisa Posey-Cooper; step-father, Louis J. Cooper; brother, Marvin Gray; sister, Kern Armstrong; grandmother, Helena Gooseberry; step-brother, Tobias Cooper (Catherine); step-sister, Jasmine cooper; nephews, Tajay Gray and Kolbey Cooper; nieces, Gabrielle and Alyssa Cooper; uncles, Kerry(Ann) Posey, John (Brenda) Hicks, Sr., Lionel (Rita) Posey, and Kevin Campbell; aunts, Cherydale(Calvin) Savoy, Brenda Stevenson, Pamela Posey, and Florence (Romelle) Campbell; goddaughter, Sheyla Hicks; special friends, John Hicks, Jr., Gary Tolson, Reagan Fitzpatrick, and a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing, 9:30am until Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00am on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 15848 Rock Point Road, Issue, Maryland. Interment, Church Cemetery.
