Irene Toler Potthast, 76 of Charlotte Hall, MD passed away on October 11, 2010 at her residence.

Born June 2, 1934 in Reading, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Lillian Toler.

Irene met her husband while he was in the U.S. Navy; they married on May 30, 1959. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, cooking and golfing together with her husband, Irene was a very good golfer, she was a member of St. Mary's Bryantown Catholic church and the Charles County Garden Club. Irene was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Irene is survived by her husband, Charles Potthast, children; John (Brooke) Potthast, Charles Potthast, Susan Buckler, and Joseph (Pam) Potthast, one brother, Jake Toler, grandchildren; Joseph, Jane, Jack, James, David, Charlie, Jennifer, Daniel, Rebekah, Elizabeth, Michael, and Matthew, great-grandchildren; Kaylyn, Brielle, Charlize, Corinne, Kayla, and Ayva.

In addition to her parents Irene was preceded in death by a brother; Richard toler and two sisters; Helen Deroun, and Katherine Lambert.

Family will receive friends for Irene's Life Celebration on Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., Charlotte Hall, MD with prayers recited at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian will be celebrated on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Bryantown Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Irene's grandsons; Jack, Joe, Danny, David, Charlie, and Mike. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew and James.
