Mr. Smith was the Chief Operating Engineer for 40 years with Greater Southeast Community Hospital in Washington, DC. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pomfet, MD. He was a past member of the Waldorf Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, and tinkering.

He was son of the late Paul J. Smith and the late Irene C. Brown.

He was predeceased by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mary C. Smith; one brother, William and three sisters, Virginia, Helen, and Ellen.

A Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 26, 2010 from 2-4PM and 6-8 PM with a Wake Service at 7 PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 11 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Pomfret, MD

Clergy will be Fr. Mark Smith.

Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
