Earl Joseph Moran, 85, of Hollywood, MD, formerly of Westminster, MD, died January 9, 2006

He was the only son, born October 14, 1920 to the late William Joseph Moran and Leona Amrhein Moran in Baltimore, MD. Earl resided in Baltimore until October 8, 1942 when he enlisted in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He was stationed in the Pacific on the island of Guam where he assembled communications equipment manufactured by J.P. Friez, who was one of his previous employers. He enjoyed photography as a hobby during his military time.

Upon his discharge in December 1945, he resided at Nev-R-Dun Farm north of Westminster for nearly 20 years until his family moved to Hollywood in Southern Maryland in 1964. He was employed by Brunswick Corp. prior to AT&T in Faulkner until his retirement in 1985. Throughout his life, he enjoyed crabbing, fishing, woodworking, gardening and boating.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Agnes Brown, Grace Moran and Doris Moran. He is survived by his wife, Winifred Roop Moran and was the best daddy to his children, Sandra Martin of Millers, MD, Teresa Welch Farman of Port Republic, MD, Ralph Moran of Hollywood, MD, Gloria Adams of Westminster, MD and Cecilia Murphy of Lusby, MD. There are 12 grandchildren, Deborah, Eric, Beth, Shannon, Ryan, Michael, Lauren, Billy, Jessica, Richie, Wesley and Kenny and 6 great-grandchildren, Ty, Brandon, Jetta, Mia, Mykenzie and Mallorie.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2006 with a prayer service at 4 p.m. in the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD. Father Raymond Schmidt will officiate a Funeral Mass on Monday, January 16, 2006 at 10 a.m. in St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church, St. John's Road in Hollywood, MD, where Earl was a member. A private interment will be held at Pipe Creek Cemetery near Union Bridge in Carroll County at a later date.
