Molly Josephine Owens, peacefully departed this life to gracefully go home to the Lord on August 2, 2010. Molly slipped peacefully into the hands of the Lord at the Charles County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in La Plata, Maryland.

Molly was born on June 17, 1923 in Charles County Maryland. She was the beloved daughter of the late Olivia and Phillip Coates. Molly was educated in the Charles County School System and went on to become a domestic worker.

Molly married Ernest Owens in 1970 and from their union there were two children, Julian Paul Coates and John Howard Coates. During her lifetime Molly spent her days enjoying the company of family and taking part in her well loved activities of sewing, attending church, and watching soap operas, especially her favorite "As the World Turns."

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ernest, sisters, Gertrude Smallwood, Mary Toye, Irene Williams, and Annie Jennifer and brothers, Lee Johnson and Phillip Coates. Molly is survived by her sons, Julian (Curly) and John (Billy), brother, Edward and sister-in- law, Theresa Coates, brother-in-law, Thomas and sister-in-law, Olivia Owens and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends, especially Irene Coates (Kitty), Mary Lyles, and Shirley Spriggs.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Brenda Spriggs (great niece) for her care giving during Molly's illness and also Charles County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and their staff.

Her viewing will be held on Saturday, August 7th, 10:00am until Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bryantown, MD. Interment, Church Cemetery.
