George Edmond Rothgeb II, 65, of La Plata, MD, died July 28, 2010, at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC.

Mr. Rothgeb was a retired installer and repairman for C&P Telephone Company / Bell Atlantic / Verizon for 27 years. He was a member of Marbury Baptist Church and a long time former member of Potomac Heights Baptist Church. He passed after a long and difficult illness that he handled with grace and courage. He was an outstanding athlete at Lackey High School. He was a precious husband, loving dad and proud grandfather. His greatest achievement to him was his two children and greatest joy his three grandchildren. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, technicians and staff at the BMA Dialysis Center of La Plata.

Born January 12, 1945, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late George Edmond Rothgeb, Sr. And the late Janie Miller Rothgeb.

Predeceased by his parents; sister, Rebecca Ann Rothgeb Horstkamp.

Survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda McKeown Rothgeb; son, George "Rick" Rothgeb III and his wife Carol Ann Rothgeb of Mechanicsville, MD; daughter, Wendy Raye Cable and her husband George Cable, Jr. of Hughesville, MD. Also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Nicholas Cable, Jamie Cable and Jillian Rothgeb.

Visitation will be Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646, from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with prayers at 7PM.

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at 11AM, at Marbury Baptist Church.

Rev. Tim Bean and Rev. Jim Osborn will officiate.

Interment will take place at Nanjemoy Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be George "Rick" Rothgeb, III, George Cable, Jr., Nicholas Cable, Jamie Cable, Robert "Bobby" Morgan, Mike Horstkamp, and Kevin Horstkamp.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Ed Heise, Dale Arbogast, Carson Cockerham, Earl Reitz, George Cable, Sr.
