Steve Starrett Bowie, 64, of La Plata, MD, died July 1, 2010, at his residence with Hospice.

Mr. Bowie was a Foreman for 33-1/2 years with Willett Construction in White Plains, MD. He was a veteran with the U.S. Army having served during Vietnam. He was a member of River Church of Southern Maryland. He built many roads in Charles County advancing County amenities; life member of La Plata, American Legion, Bel Alton VFW, White Plains Moose Lodge and AMVets; member of Wicomico Golf Club. He loved hunting, fishing, sports and bowling.

Born November 25, 1945, in Pisgah, MD, he was the son of the late George Richard Bowie and the late Cora Elizabeth Alvey Bowie.

Predeceased by his parents; brothers, George Kenneth Bowie, McKinley Faith Bowie, Richard Bowie, Archie McDonald Bowie, Thomas Randolf Posey-Bowie; sisters, Dorothy Cecelia Bowie and Fannie Mae Bowie.

Survived by his wife of 16 years, Sharon P. Bowie; sons, James S. Bowie and his wife Donna of Hughesville, MD; Ronald L. Bowie and his wife Vicki of Lexington Park, MD; Michael W. Garlick and his wife Alexis of Waldorf, MD; daughters, Monaca S. Grant and her husband Paul of Mechanicsville, MD; Melinda K. Bowie of Chaptico, MD; Sherry L. Hall and her husband Clint of VA; Darlene Digennaro and her husband Michael of Ocean Pines, MD. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 8, 2010, from 2-4PM and 6-8PM with prayers at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646.

Funeral Service will be Friday, July 9, 2010, beginning at 12:30PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel.

Rev. Dean Wolfe and Rev. Joe Wible will officiate.

Interment will take place at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
