Mary Christine "Pudding" Yates, 59, of Charlotte Hall, MD, died July 1, 2010, at her residence with Hospice.

Ms. Yates was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Newport in Charlotte Hall, MD. She loved dancing, oldies music, soap operas on television, cooking, crabs, and being with family and friends.

Born October 19, 1940, in Bryantown, MD, she was the daughter of the late George Washington Hicks and the late Margaret Ann Chase Hicks.

Predeceased by her parents; adopted daughter, Janice Michelle Lancaster; and brother, George Hicks.

Survived by her son, Thomas Cornell Yates of Indian Head, MD; daughters, Theresa Bernice Smoot of PA, Mary Geneva Yates of Charlotte Hall, MD, Sheila Marie Yates of Charlotte Hall, MD, and adopted daughter, Linda Patricia Yates of La Plata, MD; brothers, James Edward Hicks of Newburg, MD, James Percell Hicks of Lexington Park, MD, Francis Allen Hicks of Glasva, MD, and David Jerared Hicks of Waldorf, MD; and sisters, Viola Marie Hicks of Waldorf, MD, and Ruby Campbell of Charlotte Hall, MD. Also survived by 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 7, 2010, from 9-11 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Newport.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, July 7, 2010, beginning at 11 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church at Newport.

Interment will be Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at Church Cemetery.
