Edward C. Kline, 80, of La Plata, MD, died June 25, 2010, at George Washington Hospital, Washington, DC.

Mr. Kline was an Aircraft Mechanic for 38 years at Andrews Air Force Base in Clinton, MD. Following his retirement from Andrews, he was a mechanic with Metro in Washington, DC from 1986 through 2008. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during Korea from 1950-1954. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Pius Council. In his youth, he was a professional baseball pitcher with the Philadelphia Athletics from 1948-1949. He enjoyed gardening, sports, especially his Redskins and Boston Red Sox, loved watching TV westerns - John Wayne was his hero.

Born May 14, 1930, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Edward C. Kline and the late Teresa M. Freze Kline.

Predeceased by his parents and his wife, Lucia Kline.

Survived by daughter, Teresa and her husband Mark Shutters of La Plata, MD; sons, Victor A. and his wife Sharon Kline of La Plata, MD and Andrew W. and his wife Rose Anne Kline of Hughesville, MD; brother, Charles Simpson of California, MD; sister, Ursula Sticell of PA. Also survived by four grandchildren, Kathrine Victoria, Andrea Marie, Nicholas Edward Wm., and Alexandra Lucia.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 30, 2010, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with prayers at 7 p.m. at Raymond Funeral Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, July 1, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Plata, MD.

Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
