Robert Warren "Bob" Burdette, 64, of White Plains, MD, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Genesis La Plata Center.

Mr. Burdette was retired after 30 plus years of service as an Air Traffic Controller with the FAA, serving must of his time at Andrews Air Force Base. Following retirement from FAA, he worked ten years in the La Plata Library as a Circulation Assistant. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Vietnam during 1967 -1968 and was awarded the Purple Heart for his wounds received there. He was a member of the DAV and the VFW Post in Bel Alton, MD. A 1963 graduate of La Plata High School. He loved animals and organic gardening and was known for his outstanding asparagus.

Born September 27, 1945, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late William Morgan Burdette Sr. and the late Myrtle Adams Burdette.

Predeceased by his parents, and a brother, John Ervin Burdette.

Survived by his wife of 39 years, Elaine Jenkins Burdette; brother William M. and his wife Touche/Teresa Burdette Jr.; sister-in-law Teresa Jenkins and her husband Steve Nelson; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 25, 2010, from 2-4 and 6-8PM with Prayers at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD. Funeral Service will be Saturday, June 26, 2010, at 10:30AM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD. Rev. Bruce Jones will officiate. Interment will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD. Pallbearers will be David and Donald Hoff, Warren Ricks, and Steve Nelson. Honorary Pallbearers will be the U. S. Army Honor Guard.
