![]() Maurice Eugene "Gene" Foster, 86, of Franklin, NC, formerly of Indian Head, MD, died May 10, 2010, at Calvert Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Foster was an Item Manager with the Department of Defense for over 15 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during WWII in the European Theater where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Franklin, NC and the Disabled American Veterans Post in White Plains, MD. He attended Oak Grove Baptist Church in NC. He was an avid baseball fan where he served as a coach on the Southern Maryland Baseball League. He enjoyed rabbit hunting and farming and was an avid Redskin and Orioles fan. Born October 11, 1923, in Cleveland, NC, he was the son of the late Maurice P. Foster and the late Mary Bobbitt Foster. Predeceased by his parents; son, Charles G. "Greg" Foster; brothers, James and Henry Foster; and sister, Beulah Foster Berry. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Willa Mae Raby Foster; sons, Maurice E. "Gene" and his wife Julia Foster, II of St. Leonard, MD; Michael and his wife Sharon Foster of Edgewater, MD; Glenn and his wife Barbara Foster of Indian Head, MD; daughters, Kitty Pat and her husband Leo Cummins of Myrtle Beach, SC; Gwen and her husband Michael Fitzgerald of Amherst, VA; brother, Charlie and his wife Helen Foster of Hughesville, MD; sisters, Laura and her husband LeMoine Wilkerson of Waldorf, MD; Alma and her husband Cecil Padgett of Heathville, VA. Also survived by 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 12, 2010, from 5-8 PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD. Funeral Service will be Thursday, May 13, 2010, at 11 AM at Raymond Funeral Chapel. Rev. Dr. Michael Fitzgerald will officiate. Pallbearers will be Maurice E. "Gene" Foster III, Michael Foster II, Gabriel Fitzgerald, David Michael Oxenham, Bob Foster, Bobby Raby, Allen Wilkerson, and Bradley Berry. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Wilkerson, Randy Wilkerson, Kevin Berry, Burton Berry, Jimmy Padgett, Billy Raby, Craig Raby, Gary Heilmeier, Douglas Heilmeier, Glenn Raby, Joe Harold, Mark Harold, David Harold, and the United States Army Honor Guard. Interment will be at Trinity Memorial Gardens. Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service. |
