Arthur Gene Strissel, Sr., 82 of Adelphi, MD died on April 14, 2010 at Holy Cross Hospital, Silver Spring, MD.

Born on March 8, 1928 in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Albert C. Strissel and the late Betty Juracka. After serving his country honorably as a sergeant in the United States Marines, Mr. Strissel was a successful businessman in his ownership of the Strissel Construction business. In his business career, he also served as the President of Vytar Associates and Bragg Towers, Inc. And, until his death, he remained dedicated and loyal to the care and well-being of his beloved wife, Betty. He enjoyed spending time with family, and reading, especially about history.

Survived by his wife, Betty Jane Strissel, sons, Arthur G., Jr., Christopher A. and wife, Sandra, Stephan T. and wife, Kay, and Phillip K. Strissel, grandchildren, Arthur G., III, Timothy M., Caroline K, Kristen M., Mark G., Keith and Robert C. Strissel. He is predeceased by a granddaughter, Amy D. Hillier.

Family will receive friends to Celebrate Arthur's Life on Thursday, April 22, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. with prayers being recited at 7 p.m. at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, April 23, 2010 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bryantown, MD with Pastor, Father Rory T. Conley officiating. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
