![]() On April 4, 2010 Mary Helen Thompson was granted access to the stairway to heaven. She left all her earthly possessions behind; including many loved ones. Mary was born on April 9, 1940 to Viola Johnson, and Sylvester Briscoe, she was educated in the Charles County public school system.
Mary was a homemaker for many years and decided to seek employment later in life. She worked for the McDonald's corporation for 10 years, until her health began to fail. Mary was not one to sit still, she could often be found up and down the highways. She enjoyed yard sales, and frequent trips to Atlantic City. Mary cared deeply about her family. She was always quick to assist any of her family members in need. She gave generously, and often leaving herself to do without. Mary was united in marriage to James Dennis Thompson on May 31, 1969. Her memories will be cherished, by her loving and devoted husband, James "Tiny man" Thompson. Children: Dennis, Joan Wallace, Mary Thompson, Connie Simms, John, Harold (Wife Robyn), Daniel (Wife Karla), Eugene, Christine, Viola, Mark, and Joseph Thompson. Grand Children: Kenny and Erica Thompson, Denise, Ashley, Katrina and Danetta Thompson, William, Brad, and Shanita Simms, John Jr., Charletta, Natasha, and Michelle Thompson, Ebonie, and Tyrell Wallace, Antoine Thompson, Andrian, and Adreanna Keller, Aalliyah, and Jaylnn Hanson, Nathaniel, Jonathan, BriAhna, and Iyanna, Thompson, Guan Thompson, Zaykaria, Mark, and Joseph Thompson, Siblings, Shirley Ford, Gladys Evans, Pauline Mason (Ronnie), Brothers, Cecil, Jenkins, Francis, Sister-in-law, Beverly Dorsey. Close family friends: Towanda Taylor and Terry Hansen. Mary also has a host of extended family and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Viola Johnson, and Sylvester Briscoe, brother, George Ford, sister, Roselee Proctor, son, Kenneth Thompson, brother-in-law, James "Bubba " Proctor, and son-in-law, Raymond H. Wallace Jr. Her viewing will be held on Monday, April 12th, 9:00am until time of service 10:00am at Thornton Funeral Home, PA, 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD 20640.
