Katherine Virginia Grove, 87, of Mechanicsville, MD, formerly of Waldorf, MD, died April 1, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital. Born August 6, 1922 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of William E. Summers and Kattie B. Watson Summers.

Mrs. Grove was an avid gardener and loved to go shopping. She enjoyed bowling and was an enthusiastic Baltimore Orioles fan. During her life she operated two businesses, the ACE Liquors in Indian Head, MD and Grove's Store in Oxon Hill, MD.

Besides her parents, Katherine was predeceased by her husband, William Sherman Grove, Sr.; grandson, Walter Stephen Grove; brothers, William E. Summers and James T. Summers; sisters, Mildred Long, Dorothy O'Connor and Margaret Mills.

She is survived by children, William Grove Jr, Peggy Taylor, Charles Grove, Carol Harmon, Barbara Padgett, Brenda Padgett, Kathy Thomas, Michele Forbes, and sister, Alice Magnotto; 20 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 3, 2010 from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the Brinsfield-Echols funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD where a service will be held at 11:a.m. conducted by Pastor John Farris. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD. Pallbearers will be members of the family.
