![]() William Bryan "Sonny" Buckler, Sr., 73, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2010 at his home in Laurel Grove surrounded by his loving family.
Born June 24, 1936, he was the oldest son of Eleanora Pilkerton Buckler and the late William Jennings Bryan Buckler. He was a life-long resident of St. Mary's County. After attending Margaret Brent High School, Sonny served two tours of duty with the United States Army. He enjoyed a long and successful career in the field of carpentry. He leaves behind a large and extended family including his beloved wife of 47 years, Lillian "Tinka", children, William Bryan "Willie" and wife Terri and two grandsons, Bryan and Blake, and son, Jeffrey Scott "Jeff" (Annette) and two granddaughters, Shannon and Samantha. Others include his brothers, Ronald (Pearl), Vernon "Joe" (deceased), Lafayette "Laffy", David (Sissy), Minor (Melva Rita), Wayne (Tammy), Glenn (Karen), Mark (Wanda), Myron, and Kevin (Jackie). Sisters include Loretta Alvey (Richard), Brenda Tucker (Douglas), Sheila Long (Jennings), Deborah Noble (Don); cousins, Jimmy Buckler (Eleanor) and Betty Weddle(Carl) and a special nephew, Joseph "Joey" Buckler. Lastly, there are far too many loving nieces, nephews and friends to name who will remember his larger than life personality and kindness, his witty sense of humor and his strong commitment to family. He loved camping, traveling, walking, boating, collecting various antiques and most importantly, relaxing with his family and friends. He had a great love of country music and was a member in good standing of the NRA. The family will receive relatives and friends for Bryan's Life Celebration from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. 30195 Three Notch Rd.,Charlotte Hall, MD. A prayer service will be held at 7:00p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Church, 28297 Old Village Rd., Mechanicsville, MD at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions made to the Mechanicsville Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 15, Mechanicsville, MD 20659, Hospice of St. Mary's, P.O. Box 625, Leonardtown, MD 20650 or the National Kidney Foundation, Inc., 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016 Pallbearers for Mr. Buckler will be Minor Buckler, Joey Buckler, Wayne Buckler, David Buckler, Mark Buckler and Kevin Buckler. Honorary pallbearers will be Hamilton Wood, Sr., Charles Norris, Roger Graves, Billy Alvey, Sr., Glenn Buckler, Sr., Laffy Buckler, Myron Buckler and Ronald Buckler.
