![]() Paul G. Vespermann, 87, of Shores of Calvert in Dunkirk, MD passed away peacefully March 16, 2010 at the Burnett Calvert Hospice House in Prince Frederick, MD. Paul was born April 2, 1922 in Baltimore, MD to Willey and Mary Satterfield Vespermann.
He was raised in Hyattsville, MD and graduated from Hyattsville High School, class of 1941. He enlisted in the US Army Air Corps in 1943 and served in the 5th Bomb Group, 23rd Squadron of the 13th Air Corps as a Bombardier in New Guinea, the Western Pacific, Southern Philippines and Borneo. He was awarded the Asiatic, Pacific Service, Philippines Liberation with one Bronze Star, American Service and WW II Victory Medals. He was discharged from the military on December 13, 1945 as a Second Lieutenant. He married Wilma N. Taylor on May 24, 1946 and they lived and raised their family in the Lewisdale Community in West Hyattsville, MD. Paul worked for the Washington Gas Light Company as a dispatcher, retiring in 1983 after 42 years of service. He moved with his family to the Shores of Calvert community in Dunkirk, MD in 1978. He was a life member of the Stallings-Williams American Legion Post 206 in Chesapeake Beach, and to Deale Elks Lodge 2528. Paul was an avid golfer and scored two holes in one. He enjoyed dancing, going out for dinner and entertaining family and friends. He is survived by his wife Wilma, sons Larry J. Vespermann of Dunkirk and Steven L. Vespermann of North Beach, MD. Friends and family will be received from 9:30 to 11:00 AM on Saturday March 20, 2010 at Rausch Funeral Home, P.A., 8325 Mt. Harmony Lane, Owings, MD, followed by services and a celebration of his life at 11:00 AM. Private interment will be at Southern Memorial Gardens. Arrangements provided by Rausch Funeral Home. |
